For Temps
Information & Downloads
We always strive to offer our temps the best opportunities and to give our clients the highest quality service. Below is a reminder of what we’d like you to do while you are working on behalf of Val Wade Recruitment.
Timesheets
- Please send your timesheet to us on time – by 5pm on Friday at the latest. It must be signed by the client and faxed or scanned/emailed to us – we cannot accept your hours over the telephone. If we do not receive a signed timesheet from you we will not be able to pay you.
Punctuality
- Please arrive for work on time. It is unprofessional to be late so allow plenty of time to get to your assignment. We will always give you details of your hours of work for each assignment. It is essential that you are at work on time, every day. If, for any reason, you are running late do call us immediately so that we can let the client know on your behalf.
- Always have a London A–Z. We will give you directions to your assignment, however we recommend that you carry an A–Z with you at all times, just in case you get lost.
Phone calls/internet/email
- Turn off your mobile at work. You should not take or make personal calls on your mobile whilst at work. Ensure you make any personal calls in your free time eg during your lunch hour. Do not use the client’s telephone for personal calls. In case of emergency, or if you need to call us, then please ask permission first.
- Don’t access personal emails whilst based on a client site. You should not access your emails while you are working or go on the internet for personal use. If you are given an email address by the client, do not use it to send/receive personal emails – we will inevitably receive complaints and it could lose you the assignment.
Sickness
- Tell us immediately. If you are not able to attend a booking due to sickness, you must call Val Wade Recruitment before 9.00 am on the morning you are not able to work. Do not telephone the client direct.
Dress code
- Always wear appropriate dress. We will advise you on this. Although not necessary for every site, it would be advisable for you to have at least one black suit or jacket as some of our clients can be quite corporate.
- Conservative make-up and please ensure hair is clean and tidy.
Attitude
- Smile and look interested. We will always try to get you assignments which we think will interest you, but if you are in a booking which is not your dream job, make the most of it and give the client 100% while you are there. If you are not sure how to do something, just ask.
Contact with Val Wade Recruitment
- Always keep us up to date. If a client requests a change to your assignment, please ensure you tell Emma immediately. All assignments must be made through Val Wade Recruitment to ensure payment. We advise you not to give out your personal details to clients.
- Ensure we know your new work contact details once you are on a Val Wade Recruitment client site.
- We will be in touch with you on a regular basis during your assignment.
If you have any queries at all please contact Emma on 020 7355 2772 or emmad@valwade-recruitment.co.uk – we are always here to help!

Once you start temping with us you will be entitled to holiday pay.
How much leave am I entitled to?
From 1 April 2009, all workers became entitled to 28 days paid annual leave in any leave year. If you do not work full-time then this will be on a pro-rata basis.
When does my holiday year start?
Your holiday year will start on the first day of your employment with Val Wade Recruitment.
Do I accrue holiday pay on all the hours I work?
You will only accrue holiday pay on hours worked up to a maximum of 37 ½ hours per week. If you work longer hours than this you will not accrue holiday pay on the additional hours worked.
How much notice do I need to give Val Wade Recruitment if I want to take holiday?
You must give us notice of your intention to take leave – this should be at least twice as long as the period of leave you wish to take. For example, if you want to take 3 days paid annual leave, you must give us 6 days’ notice. You must send your leave request details to Emma by email emmad@valwade-recruitment.co.uk with ‘Holiday’ in the title box. Should you not receive a reply, please follow up with a telephone call to Emma to check that your email has been received. Please ensure that holiday is clearly marked on your timesheet.
When will I get paid holiday pay?
As with all payment from Val Wade Recruitment, your holiday pay will be paid a week in arrears in line with your holiday requests.
How do you calculate how much holiday pay I am entitled to?
We calculate this as a percentage of the hours you have worked up to 37 ½ hours per week.
What if I want to take more holiday than I have accrued?
You are only entitled to holiday pay for holiday you have accrued. If you wish to take a longer holiday, we will pay you holiday pay for the number of days you have accrued and the rest can be taken as unpaid leave by arrangement with the Temporary Division at Val Wade Recruitment.
Do I automatically get holiday pay paid on bank holidays?
No. However, if you wish to take a day’s holiday on a bank holiday please advise us in the usual way and you will be paid the relevant accrued holiday pay.
Is holiday pay shown on my payslip?
Yes. The amount of holiday pay that you accrue for the week will be shown on your payslip as ‘Hol Pay for Week’. On weeks when you are not taking holiday, this will show zero in the ‘Before Tax Items’ section. Under the ‘Details this Week’ section, your ’Gross Taxable’ will show your cumulative salary plus holiday pay received.
When I stop temping will I receive any accrued holiday pay?
Yes, when we issue you with a P45 you will receive any outstanding holiday pay due to you in your final payslip.
How do I know how much holiday I have accrued or have left to take?
We will keep a record of all holiday accrued and payments made, however, you should also keep your own records including payslips.
What if I don’t want to take holiday?
The Working Time Regulations 1998 were brought in as a health and safety measure to ensure that workers take regular breaks, which we fully support. You must take your accrued holiday by the end of the holiday year as it cannot be carried forward.
Does the temporary rate you quote me include holiday pay?
We will quote you a basic hourly rate for a temp booking and will also tell you what the rate will be with the holiday pay accrued. However, please remember that it is the basic rate you will receive each week and you will only receive holiday pay when you have requested to take holiday.

You get a P45 from your employer when you stop working for them. It's a record of your pay and the tax that's been deducted from it so far in the tax year. It shows your tax code and PAYE (Pay As You Earn) reference number, your National Insurance number, your leaving date, your earnings in the tax year and how much tax was deducted from your earnings.
Your P45 is an important document which cannot be duplicated. It is your responsibility to ensure it is kept in a safe place. If you want to claim back tax, you will need the original P45. Part 1 is your copy to keep and you hand in parts 2 and 3 to your employer.
If you are no longer working for Val Wade Recruitment as a temporary worker and you want to request a P45 form please telephone Emma on 020 7355 2772 or email her emmad@valwade-recruitment.co.uk

You will need to complete a P46 form if:
- you're starting your first job and don't have a P45
- you’re new to the UK and starting to temp with us on a Visa
- you've lost your P45, as you won't be able to get a replacement.
You can download a P46 form here. Please complete this and return to us. This will be processed by HM Revenue & Customs who will then issue your tax code.
